Finding the right balance is key for Belgian chocolate equipment manufacturer Hacos. The company has cemented its niche between large and artisan operations as well as the ability to accommodate both local and international markets. Hacos was created by the merger of Hacos NV and P. Van Meulenbeke BVBA. Van Meulenbeke was founded in 1954 and mainly dealt in small machines such as mouldfillers and vibrating tables, and designed its own machines. Hacos was established in 1967. Raf Tuytelaars, export manager, explains, "Originally, Hacos mainly delivered machines on the international market. As Van Meulenbeke was active locally, they decided to join forces to offer a complete and professional supply of machines to the chocolate processing industry."
