London pins Olympic hopes on improved transport infrastructure

London's bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games could well hinge on its transport system, particularly in and around the Thames Gateway region where many of the principal Games sites would be located. The Temple Mills Bridge replacement project has therefore taken on added significance. In the event that London succeeds in its bid, Temple Mills Bridge (see Figure 1) would be a mere stone's throw from the site of the main Olympic Park in Stratford, east London.
