Highly insulating three-layer external wall elements: Sandwich elements of lightweight aggregate concrete (LAC) with open structure

The European Union has made it its goal to considerably lower CO_2 emissions in the coming years. To achieve this goal, a number of directives, laws and regulations were passed, amended, and made stricter. The monolithic wall elements of lightweight aggregate concrete with open structure (LAC = Lightweight Aggregate Concrete) can satisfy the more stringent requirements on building engineering physics with wall cross-sections of appropriate thickness. The U-value of 0.28 W/(m~2K) specified and/or recommended in the new Energy Savings Regulation (EnEV 2014) are in this manner achieved without additional measures.
