Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) has merged its subsidiaries FESCO Lines Vladivostok (FLV) and Transsibe-rian Intermodal Service (TIS) into one company called FESCO Integrated Transport (FIT). Up to now, FLV has been selling its short-sea services to/from Russian Pacific ports on a single B/L contract basis only, whereas TIS, as a logistics agent specialising in rail transport, was offering door-to-door services. Explaining the logic behind the merger, Stanislav Vartan-yan, director of FESCO's corporate communications department, said: 'Both companies' reach was limited. TIS was strong in Russia and Europe, whereas FLV was strong in Eastern Russia and the Far East.
