摘要

The European Commission (EC) is reviewing Regulation 823/2000 which grants Block Exemption for liner shipping consortia. The ELAA has submitted its recommendations, as reported by Chris Bourne. Sounds familiar I know. After five years of research, consultation and debate over legislation surrounding liner conferences, the European Liner Affairs Association (ELAA) is now representing the lines in a review of the EC regulation that covers shipping line consortia. This is of immediate practical interest to us all - shippers, forwarders and shipping lines alike - because it is through consortia, as opposed to conferences, that the vast majority of Europe's deepsea services are operated these days. Once more, ELAA is working with its members to ascertain how the consortia Block Exemption Regulation (BER) should be updated.
