The trucking industry in Indonesia is reportedly one of the most expensive, inefficient and corrupt in the world, and this is having serious consequences on the country's overall development. Recent research by the San Francisco-based Asia Foundation highlights the main issues, including poor infrastructure, but blames a raft of charges by various government departments for the problems. In its report entitled The Cost of Moving Goods: Road Transportation, Regulations, and Charges in Indonesia, nine of Indone-sia's main trucking corridors were reviewed.
