No funding cuts in box port projects in India

The Ministry of Shipping (MoS) in India has confirmed to CI that planned container terminal/port development projects at the country's major ports will progress on schedule.rnThe Government was responding to recent reports in the press that suggested exactly the opposite was occurring. Partly, these stories stemmed from the debt crisis afflicting Dubai World -the parent company of DP World which is a major investor in therncountry's box-handling facilities. Githu Joshi, director (Port Development) at the MoS, told CI: 'We have a number of new projects progressing, although some face legal issues and are held up pending court decisions. We have no option but to wait until those issues are resolved.'
