Lytle quits Long Beach for Oakland

Christopher Lytle is stepping down as executive director of Long Beach to run the port of Oakland. In the 18 months since he was appointed to that position, the southern Californian port has chalked up some major successes and narrowed the gap with rival Los Angeles in terms of container throughput. The mid-California port of Oakland handled around 2.3m teu last year, about one-third of the annual volumes moving through Long Beach.
