SHIPPERS TAKE A STAND

We don't often quote the ancient Greeks in Containerisation International, but Sophocles might have a point here: "No one loves the messenger who brings bad news." That may well leave us unloved in this edition, at least by readers at container lines, because we do bring bad news. For once it's not of our own making, but is in fact the opinions of the container lines' customers, the shippers. The results of the 2015 Cl Shipper Sentiment Survey are out, and they make grim reading. While alliances may favour the lines, shippers consider them a contributing factor to port congestion and poor service. While they can just about stand the amount of choice available now, any further consolidation would be seen as a bad thing.
