I WAS PUMPING a small block-fill, a mere 10 yards, the other day. Once I finished the main wall, I noticed a center column that looked like it would be better off filled. My son and I dragged our pump hoses over, set our ladder against the column, and I began climbing up with the hoses. It was about 10 feet or 12 feet high. About three-fourths of the way to the top of the column, which wasn't braced (nor was it anchored to the footer, as I soon found out), it toppled over.
