Transient dynamic response of poroelastic medium subjected to impulsive loading

摘要

The transient dynamic response of a poroelastic medium under applied impulsive loading is reported in this paper. The behavior of the poroelastic medium is governed by Biot's consolidation theory. The method of solution is based on the use of Laplace-Hankel integral transforms and numerical inversion of Laplace-Hankel integral transforms. The solutions for buried uniform patch loads are deduced. The accuracy of present numerical solutions is confirmed by comparison with existing solutions for an ideal elastic half space. Selected numerical results are presented to illustrate transient wave propagation in the poroelastic medium. The solution can be used in the development of boundary integral equation methods for the analysis of complicated problems related to the poroelastic medium.
