Much has been written about how enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain management systems can optimize the supply chain within and between organizations, based on a set of pre-defined machine to-machine rules. ERP systems and supply chain management software are useful in optimizing machine-to machine interac- tions about well-defined logistics and payment terms for well-defined products and services .
