REVIEWING SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC CORPORATISM: DIFFERENTIATION THEORY AND THE NORWEGIAN LABOR PRESS

摘要

The article responds to Hallin and Mancini's (2004) request for studies to follow up their comparison of media systems. They argue for structural-functionalist differentiation theory, and the article reviews the Norwegian Labor Press from that perspective. It also demonstrates the necessity of employing all of structural-functionalism when studying party press parallelism. By doing so, the Norwegian study leads to other conclusions concerning commercialization and autonomy, parallelism and political change, professionalization and instrumentalization, and power.
