Driver appreciation campaign launched

Independent truck stop Chippenham Pit Stop, located near J17 of the M4, has launched a social media campaign, #Thumbs Up For Truckers, to recognise HGV drivers for their work in the coronavirus pandemic. It aims to encourage the public to thank truck drivers for helping to keep the country fed and the economy ticking over during lockdown. "This is a way we can show our appreciation, engaging with lorry drivers who will join in, telling their stories of what they are carrying and how far they have been," said director Lisa Hatherell. The truck stop has been allowing drivers to cut their risk of contracting the virus by ordering ahead and having food and shopping brought out to their cab.
