Distracted driver jailed for cyclist death

An HGV driver who killed a pedestrian pushing a bicycle while distracted by his mobile phone - and then attempted to hide the device in an external compartment -has been sentenced to 40 months imprisonment. Dan-constantin Caraza pleaded guilty to causing the death of 65-year-old Brian Riley on the A134 Long Melford bypass in Suffolk in October 2018. Riley was struck from behind by Caraza's cement mixer lorry and he died at the scene.
