Seats that warn drivers when they are too tired to drive (CM 31 July) could also identify who has the best temperament for life behind the wheel, says their maker. Researchers at Nottingham Trent University are exploring how electrocardiogram (ECG) sensors woven into the fabric of vehicle seats could be used to detect heart rates. The seats will be developed for HGV drivers first and could be linked to in-cab warning systems to prevent drivers falling asleep.
