PCN powers granted to Ashford council officers

Officers at Ashford Borough Council (ABC) are now able to issue penalty charge notices (PCNs) to HGVs parked on footpaths and verges after it said it had become a "persistent problem". Furthermore, ABC also said that a clamping trial had led to a 95% reduction in lorries parking illegally within the borough. Jo Fox, ABC health, parking and community safety manager, said that while Operation Stack had been in operation on the M20 the number of HGVs parked in the three areas it regularly checked did not increase.
