DRIVING WITH A full bladder and miles to go before relief can be found is a daily dilemma for UK truck drivers. Sparse roadside facilities and customers banning drivers from using toilets on their premises contribute to a problem rarely found on the continent. Being unable to use a toilet can cause health problems including digestive and urinary tract infections, while menstruating women face additional difficulties. Poor concentration caused by needing to use the toilet while driving can also have serious road safety implications. "It's awful," says Brian Yeardley Continental MD Kevin Hopper. "Truck drivers are treated as second-class citizens."
