Japanese technology to help Bengal counter Chinese silk threat

The government of east Indian State of West Bengal has said it would introduce Japanese technology to bolster the silk industry of the State, which is facing threat from Chinese silk. To enable the domestic silk industry to compete with Chinese silk, the quality of local cocoons needs to be enhanced, Textiles Minister Manas Bhuniya said. The Minister added the government is trying to link up for use of Japanese technology, as it can bring a reform in domestic cocoon production.
