We would be willing to bet that it would have been difficult to find anyone at Ford Motor Company headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, in the mid Forties who was thinking about how the company was going to celebrate its golden anniversary in 1953. Yes, there was a war on, which would leave no one in a celebratory mood until it was over. But Ford had significant problems of its own: Still a decade or so away from its 50th year, the company was in dire straits.
