摘要

The objective of this paper is to explore the volume of nearshore water mass at the mixing area of the Oyashio and Kuroshio (Sanriku Coast, east-northern part of Japan). The sea level height (SLH) movement along the Japanese coast (the Western North Pacific) is the inverse of the SLH movement in the northern North Pacific. The density variations caused by the ocean currents also make SLH variation around the Japanese coast. The Oyashio southward intrusion around the Japanese coast is well controlled with the North-Western Pacific sea-level Oscillation (NWPO) being influenced by the Aleutian Low pattern. On the basis of these phenomena, the relationship among density, sea level, and sea level pressure is studied.
