When we mention 'weaving' most people think of a loom, either for making cloth from fibers or creating a piece of beadwork. Paper weaving -referred to as 'Papuela' in the Netherlands - is a simple form of art and craft that does not require a traditional loom. A finished woven piece of paper can be incorporated into back- grounds for altered art, scrapbooks, cards and rubber stamping projects, or can be framed as a piece of art. Paper weaving is perfect for using papers that aren't selling well. I had fun reliving fond memories from making the weavings into baskets, place mats and coasters. Any paper or combination of papers can be used in weaving. Yep, even those 'toad' papers, the ones waiting to become Prince Charming, can take on a whole new look when they are cut and woven into a new item.
