The portfolio of standards for validation and routine control of sterilisation are key horizontal criteria. It is important that the content of these standards is regularly reviewed and kept current. Within this portfolio, updates on the series of standards for microbiological methods are at various stages of progress. These microbiological methods are referenced in the regulatory standards for validation and routine control required by different methods of sterilisation. The series currently comprises two parts of EN ISO 11737 "Sterilisation of health care products - Microbiological methods": Part 1: Determination of a population of microorganisms on products; and,
