HEVS CONTINUE REIGN IN JAPAN AS PRIUS DISPLACES INSIGHT AS TOP SELLER

Boosted by sales of its recently launched third generation model, Toyota's Prius captured the top spot among all motor vehicles sold in Japan in May. It overtook Honda's new hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) model, the Insight, which fell to third place after garnering first place in April. The Insight was the first HEV to be a top selling model for any single month in Japan. The displacement by the Prius marked the first time that HEVs have captured the top spot in Japan for two consecutive months.
