Increasingly strict requirements of emissions regulations adopted by the United Nations International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the recent sharp global increase in energy costs has captured the attention of the global marine shipping industry, including shipbuilders, vessel owners and their customers. The Ricardo plc group, a leading manufacturer of components for the transportation industry based in England, has been actively involved in development of advanced engines, hybrid propulsion systems, mechanical and electrical energy storage units, liquid fuel reformers and fuel cell systems that could be used in marine applications.
