The Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium (ALABC), based in Durham, North Carolina, and Controlled Power Technologies (CPT), headquartered in the United Kingdom (UK), showcased an affordable energy efficient low carbon 48 Volt LC Super Hybrid demonstration vehicle at the International Vienna Motor Symposium in April. Employing cost effective low voltage micro mild hybrid technology, the LC Super Hybrid is based on a 1.4 liter Volkswagen Passat family sedan. It was developed over a 20 year period in the UK to complement an existing 12 Volt technology unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012.
