WILL EfW BE PART OF THE RENEWABLE OBLIGATIONS?

We seem to have the extraordinary situation of Government looking to simultaneously praise and condemn Energy from Waste. The DETR, the DTI, even HM Treasury have expressed the opinion that Energy from Waste (EfW) should be excluded from the Renewable Energy Obligation. Yet these are the same Government Departments who, in looking to achieve 10% renewable energy generation by 2010 have stated that their projected capacity for Energy from Waste in 2010 will be 19 million tonnes (The DTI forecast) or 15 million tonnes (the DETR forecast).
