The purpose of my visit was four-fold: to take in the breathtaking vista that is Eden; to view its environmental activities; to meet the "waste" team; and last, but by no means least, to present the Institution's Honorary Fellowship award to Tim Smit, founder of the Eden Project.rnThrough the Eden Project Tim Smit has not only raised the profile of "the environment" in terms of people, plants and the planet, but has raised the profile of the South West of England in both environmental and tourism terms. Eden, which has charitable trust status, combines education with entertainment: as well as seeing the fascinating plants, visitors to Eden can learn about various aspects of the environment at training sessions and seminars.
