The Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) were established in 1999 (with the London Development Agency following in 2000) as business-led organisations to both grow regional economies to increase the English regions' contribution to UK pic and enable local communities to fulfil their economic ambitions.rnIn the current economic climate, the RDAs perform an important role in helping to ensure that businesses are given the right support to survive in the short-term, establishing investment programmes to help build resilience against resource scarcity and price volatility and helping key sectors to grow sustainably and take advantage of the business opportunities from emerging markets.
