It won't be long before the arrival of autumn heralds the added hassle of vehicle and machinery battery failure. What to do about it? Jump leads can spark, causing both safety issues and, in some cases, causing a power surge that can damage engine management systems. A solution is available from Butts of Bawtry. Butts has recently taken on the UK distributorship of the "Propulstation" range of battery booster pack manufacturer Ceteor, based in Belgium. A wide range of models are available, but the unit ideal for waste and recycling sector applications is the 12/24-volt 1600/800CA model 520006DC. This is available either with a charge system for workshop use, or with a "docking station" that is designed to be installed in a service van or truck. This has the double benefit of keeping the 20-plus kilo unit securely stowed even when used off-highway; and enables the booster's lithium-ion battery pack to be recharged from the service vehicle's 12 or 24-volt electrical system, thus ensuring the unit is automatically charged and ready for further use.
