Things don't always go to plan. Sometimes, things take on a life of their own and go off in a different direction, all by themselves. Sometimes that direction can be more interesting than the original idea. Take this story, for example. In terms of "direction", I should be reporting on the latest Hyundai machines from the direction of Belgium, but instead, I'm in a cafe in the suburb of Kings Norton, south of Birmingham. It's wet, windy and I'm not happy. How so? Because at the last minute, the main distributor for Hyundai in Belgium - chosen to host the pre-Bauma dealer convention -found all sorts of reasons why some journalist from the UK (ie, yours truly) couldn't just swan over the Channel, jump on some brand new, specially-prepared machines, several weeks before the launch, without undertaking a full risk assessment, or some-such.
