Ethics: A Professional Concern

摘要

In a 1995 Gallup poll assessment of honesty and ethical standards among professions, the engineering profession finished fifth out of 26 professions, a position it has occupied consistently in the 19-year history of the Honesty and Ethics Poll. The consistent and sustained years of effort by the professional engineering societies, such as ASCE, to promote and enforce ethical standards within the engineering community have clearly enhanced the reputation of the engineer as a member of society worthy of the public's trust.
