Ground source heat pump systems are applied to air conditioning and domestic hot water in buildings for its high energetic efficiency. In urban areas of major European countries, the most commonly used are those that include borehole heat exchangers. Their use in Spain, compared with its surrounding countries, is quite small. Here it is described their functioning system, their advantages over other geothermal heat exchangers, their equipment and materials used in their construction, their means of thermal transfer, and it is done a prediction about the future of their use in our country.%Los sistemas de bombas de calor conectadas al terreno se aplican a la climatización y a la producción de agua caliente sanitaria en edificios por su elevada eficiencia energética.
