In his second letter regarding the 2007 1-35W bridge failure, which appeared in the November issue, Ken Wyatt missed the mark. Citing my previous letter on the subject, he completely disregarded my major points and obviously has not looked hard for the information he wants from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). He wrote that the board remains "silent and aloof on the matter; I strongly disagree. 1 feel that the NTSB has done a commendable job on this incident and has provided a great service in highlighting a serious potential problem with gusset plates on non-load-path-redundant structures.
