If the rhetorical question that forms this book's title seems familiar, you are to be commended for the careful attention you pay to this column. Last September this section of the magazine included a review of Nicholas Carr s The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains (New York City: W.W. Norton, 2010), which unquestionably is concerned with the same basic issue. Where this new work diverges dramatically is in its approach to the subject. Where The Shallows addressed the subject in what might be termed the old media style of a long book by a single author, Is the Internet Changing the Way You Think? is more akin to a printed version of a Web page's comments section but without the chaos and ad hominem attacks.
