In Twilight of Abundance, author David Archibald argues that, as a result of declining output, a shift away from oil as a primary energy source is overdue; that fracking is at best a temporary solution; and that new and better fuel sources, potentially nuclear, must be developed, pronto. On the latter point, Archibald is not merely a skeptic but literally a contrarian: the climate-related threat to civilization, according to his research, is not global warming but rather global cooling driven by solar activity.
