The uniform Computer Information Transaction Act (UCITA) guidelines for software licenses were written by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, a group of commercial law experts. They're supposed to help states craft uniform laws for how licenses are written so that vendors and customers don't have to invent contract language every time they ink a deal. But there's a growing backlash against UCITA as states move to adopt it.
