Screening and Identification of Many of the Compounds Present in Rauvolfia verticillata by Use of High-Pressure LC and Quadrupole TOF MS

A simple approach is described for LC–Q-TOFMS screening and identification of many of the compounds present in Rauvolfia verticillata. Combined isolation and identification of the complex chemical composition was conducted when investigating traditional Chinese medicine. Twenty-two components of Rauvolfia verticillata were identified by comparing retention times and molecular weights with those of available standards and with reference data. This study provided a rapid, sensitive, economical, and systematic method for identification and evaluation of the quality of complex traditional Chinese medicines.
