Clinical Effect of Electro-Acupuncture Therapy in Treatment of Superficial Tumors

Clinical Data: 240 cases of superficial tumors were treated with electro-acupuncture therapy (EAT) from 1987 to 1992. There were 161 male and 79 female patients with an average age of 51. 5 (31 ～ 93) years. All patients were diagnosed pathologically. There were 105 breast cancers, 38 skin cancers, 29 thyroid carcinomas, 21 melanomas, 20 oral cancers, 17 parotid cancers and 10 rhab-domyosarcomas. The clinical stage included 13 of stage Ⅰ , 60 of stage Ⅱ , 98 of stage Ⅲ and 51 of stage Ⅳ . 63.3 % of cases were in middle or late stage. The diameters of tumors were 3.0 ～ 5.0 cm (58 cases), 5.1～7.0 cm (69 cases), 7.1 ～ 9.0 cm (65 cases), and 9. 1～11.0 cm (32 cases). Only 71 of 240 cases (30%) were not treated with any therapy before EAT, 103 patients (42.9%) were recurrent in one to two years after operations. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy was not effective in 69 (28. 8 % ) cases and 68 patients (28.3%), respectively. Methods: EAT apparatus (type BK 92) was computerized with auto-control system for voltage, current, coulomb and safety alarm.
