Tosoh says it has decided to increase capacity for the specialty rubber chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM). The company will invest Y3 billion ($33 million) to construct a production line at its Nanyo, Japan complex that will increase CSM capacity to 8500 mt/ year. Work on the expansion was due to begin in October and completion is slated for August 2010. Separately, Tosoh has agreed to acquire Banco de Oro Unibank's 34% stake in Mabuhay Vinyl Corp (MVC; Manila) for P235 million ($5 million). MVC is the biggest chlor-alkali company in the Philippines.
