Biosimilars are approved versions of innovator biopharmaceutical products after patent expiry. The biosimilars market is currently a highly fragmented one, and early commercialization of products and the high absorption rate of biosimilar products made Asia the dominant market in 2008, with a 34% share of the global biosimilars product market, the report says.
