K+S to Acquire Potash One, Advance Greenfield Potash Project

K+S has agreed to acquire Vancouver-based Potash One for C$4.50/share, a 24% premium over the closing price for Potash One shares on November 19, the last close before the deal was announced, the companies say. Potash One says the deal will help advance the Legacy project, a planned greenfield potash complex in Saskatchewan with an estimated annual production capacity of 2.7 million mt. Meanwhile, mining firm Vale announced last month it is conducting a feasibility for a 2.9 million mt/year potash plant in Saskatchewan as part of a larger, $10-billion investment the company plans to make in Canada over the next five years.
