DSM Forms Engineering Plastics Joint Ventures in Russia

DSM says that its DSM Engineering Plastics business unit has agreed to form two joint ventures with KuibyshevAzot (KA). DSM will hold a majority stake in each jv. DSM has also agreed to license its cyclohexanone manufacturing technology to KA to increase downstream production of caprolactam, a feedstock used to make nylon-6. DSM Engineering Plastics plans to acquire an 80% share of the Togliatti compounding plant to form the compounds jv. The deal will make DSM the first Western supplier of nylon-6 that has its own manufacturing presence in Russia and the CIS.
