Many branches of industry have used cassette woven filters of FKI type recently for cleaning dust from extracted gases. These pulsed cassette filters type FKI are made from elements (cassettes) in which the filtering material is assembled with a honeycomb structure. That structure increases the filter surface area in unit volume considerably, while making the elements as cassettes reduces the effort in servicing the filter and also reduces the time needed to replace exhausted filter material. A filter cassette (Fig. 1) consists of a framework with a filter element placed within it, which consists of cells for the clean and dusty gases. A filter element is made from a continuous strip of material in special equipment. The elements are made from the unwoven material with packages of the material lined up and joined with internal thermal welds simultaneously over the entire length (Fig. 2). The cellular element is formed by joining up the inner surfaces of two adjacent strips by the preliminary melting of narrow bands by heating elements moving between the strips, with the melting area simultaneously compressed by moving sprung rollers.
