Transmetallation reaction of trisilylstannane ArSn(SiHMe_2)_3 (Ar = 2,6-bis(2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl)phenyl), bearing a bulky substituent on the tin atom, with methyllithium in THF at room temperature gave the first trianion equivalent, trilithiostannane ArSnLi_3, the generation of which was confirmed by trapping experiments with some electrophiles as well as by ~(119)Sn and ~7Li NMR spectroscopy.rnSince the first report of the synthesis of alkyl- and aryllithiums in 1917, the organolithium compounds have been one of the most important classes of organometallic compounds and are now recognized as very powerful synthetic tools in organic chemistry.
