Molecules with a defined crescent shape have been generated from the folding or covalent locking of curved structural components connected together via multiple covalent tethers.rnStructures with well-defined conformations or shapes are attracting wide attention in diverse fields because of their unique features such as the presentation of functional groups at specific location and with defined orientation, the creation of edges and surfaces of different curvatures, and the formation of partially or fully enclosed cavities of tunable sizes and properties.
