A fluorescent probe was designed and shown to detect Cu~(2+) ratiometrically and selectively in aqueous solutions based on naphthalimide excimer-monomer switching.Fluorescent probes that convert molecular recognition into highly sensitive and easily detected fluorescence signals have been actively investigated in recent years.
