2',6'-Dimethylazobenzene as an efficient and thermo-stable photo- regulator for the photoregulation of DNA hybridization

摘要

The introduction of methyl groups into two ortho positions (2' and 6' positions) of the same benzene ring in an azobenzene remarkably raised both its photoregulation ability and the thermal stability of the cis-form.The photoregulation of biologically active compounds can be used as a robust tool for the investigation of particular biological phenomena and mechanisms in living cells, which are otherwise very difficult to achieve.
