The Airports Council International (ACI) has released preliminary data showing the cargo handle at thirty of the world's busiest cargo airports in 2008. The chart at left shows the top thirty in rank order, with their 2008 tonnage and the change in tonnage from 2007. The chart also shows last year's rankings, and, in that respect at least, not much has changed. Kuala Lumpur, which saw a 1.4% increase in its 2008 cargo handle, jumped past several other airports and moved into the top thirty for the first time at number 27. Other than that, most airports maintained their ranking, or shuffled up or down one or two positions. Anchorage, which serves as a tech stop and transfer point on many trans-Pacific routes, suffered the biggest volume drop as its cargo handle fall 15% in 2008, and fell from third to fifth on the list. Cologne-Bonn, 29th last year, dropped from the top 30.
