Uni-top grabs domestic express outfit: DHL-Sinotrans is going to sell ils full stake in subsidiary A Plus Express to Shenzhen-based Uni-top Industry Co. The deal is in the final stages of completion. DHL-Sinotrans acquired full ownership of A Plus Express in 2009, rebranding it as "Sinotrans-Apex," as an attempt to expand domestic express operations. However, operations were soon affected by the new Postal Law, which came out in late 2009. The new ruling stipulates that overseas companies are not allowed to operate in the domestic express mail business in China. It also stipulated that express mail under lOOg can only be carried by China Post. This particular ruling was protested by most of the private express companies in China and now this provision has been put into the status of "on hold."
